Answer: I am taking a ASL class at my college, and I am required to have this book, its called 'The American sign language phrase book" Third edition from Lou Fant and Barbara Bernstein Fant
Look on amazon or some other websites, this book is great! It has sooooo many signs and is very easy to read.
I no this is not free sence you have to buy the book, but its way worth it!

Question: how do i learn sign language? Okay well i know some sign language, but i want to learn more. Is there a website where i can learn sign language for free online? Please help. I would like to do a song in Sign Language at church. Thanks!
Answer: You can find several websites that contain vocab and some idioms of ASL (just one of the many sign languages around the world).
One you can try is:
http://www.aslpro.com/cgi-bin/aslpro/aslpro.cgi
Also, there are DVDs and dictionaries than can be handy for gaining vocabulary. Although, to learn the grammar and non manual of ASL, you may find helpful to join a Deaf club or take a ASL course in some community college.
Question: how can i learn sign language with no cost? i want to learn sign language but i dont know where to go to learn for free or really really cheap..please help.. this could help me choose my career..
Answer: Hi, I am a sign language interpreter. The very best way to learn sign language will only cost you your friendship. Find out where local deaf events are happening and go! Make friends with deaf people. Deaf people are very open. A warning, some are like people who are not deaf...grumpy...self-absorbed...mean. You might meet someone like that along the way. Don't let it stop you!
I also agree with going to your local community college and auditing a class.
ASL dictionaries are ok, but they won't teach you the real language. You need to see it to understand it and learn how to use it to express yourself! :)
good luck in your endeavor!
Question: Hi, I'M HARD OF HEARING I have a question free sign lauage classes in NY? How to recieve a hearing aide? Hi, I am interested in learning about free sign language classes located in New York? I am also hard of hearing, and if you know of any services, please let me know.
I thank you for responding to my question. I need a little more information than what was on the websites you gave me. what I am asking for is a (free) sign lanuage class for the hard of hearing in any NYC Boro. also, low cost hearing aide. your heip will be greatly appreicative.
Answer: You don't specify where you are in NY, so I can't give more specific suggestions than these. I'm assuming you're in the city, which has a VAST amount of resources, so which boro you're in would help us help you. Whichever Audiologist you consult should have additional resources for you.

New York League for the Hard of Hearing has Audiology and Hearing Aid services, as well as job placement. The links page will help you find programs closer to you, including colleges and universities that may offer lower fee services.
Lexington School for the Deaf (my web search turned up bad links)
Look in the phone book or call information - the school has a long history and will likely offer sign language classes, and may also have hearing tests and services.
