Selective Deafness
Question: Why do people sometimes have "selective deafness"? selective hearing is sometimes the most common form of alibi, why?
any thoughts?

Question: why do people sometimes have "selective deafness"? selective hearing is sometimes the most common form of alibi, why?
any thoughts?
Answer: when the conversation doesn't interest me, i tend to space out and start thinking of other things, and then i only jump in again when i hear certain trigger words.

Answer: It's called selective attention, i studied it in psychology courses lol u listen only to what ur interested in for example right now although there are cars passing by or noises (clock....) u are not bothered cause ur not focusing on them, however when sm1 calls ur name, u turn so how come u weren't listening to what they were talking in the other room & replied only 2 ur name? that's what u call selective listening .... Otherwise, ur growing old Jeddo =( lol

Question: How can us men learn to listen? Or are we all destined to annoy women with our selective deafness for ever and ever?
I swear my girlfriend tells me really important stuff while I'm asleep or something. "I told you we were busy that night 3 weeks ago!" sort of thing. Or are they lying because women know they are smarter than us and can outwit us with an answer for everything?
Face it guys, we all have one track minds and don't pay attention when women are telling us important stuff.
Answer: To be honest mine doesn't listen to me either babe. It must be in the genes or something. But I got this in an email and believe me its all true...
FINE..this is the word women use to end an arguement when they are right and you need to shut up.
5 MINUTES.. If she is getting dressed, this means half an hour. 5 mins only means 5 mins if you have just been given 5 more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
NOTHING.. this is the calm before the storm. This means SOMETHING and you should be on your toes. Aruements that begin with NOTHING usually end in FINE.
GO AHEAD.. This is a dare, not permission. Don't do it!
LOUD SIGH.. this is not actually a word but a non verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A LOUD SIGH means she thinks you're an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here arguing with you over NOTHING.
THAT'S O.K.. this is the most dangerous statement that a woman can make to a man. THAT'S O.K means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you'll pay for your mistake!!
THANKS.. a woman is thanking you. Do not question it or faint. Just say you're welcome
Take it all on board babe and maybe you'll understand your girlfriend x x x
Question: Why is it that all Parents can only count to 3? What I'm saying is when we ask our Children to do something and their selective deafness turns on we always say...................I'll count to 3!
Answer: Because that is the limit of our patience... Then we KIll .... Sorry a little dark humor...
Question: How do I shut my wife up? All she does is bang on and on and on. And on.
You know females- nothing that comes out of their mouths is worth listening to- it's all drivelly crap.
If it's not nagging about some piddly trivial crap, it's disturbing my television viewing, nose-picking, ear-wax examining, nostril-hair removing, newspaper reading or general pontification about the finer intricacies of stuff with some inane story about someone giving her attitude, or I feel this or some bitch at the office blah, blah blabbitty-blah-blah.
If only hot air was electricity she could power my home city. It's like being with a parakeet with Tourette's.
I thought by now, being married for over 15 years and with a daughter- I'd have developed fantastic selective deafness or my very best hope industrial deafness- but as my luck would have it- no chance.
I've tried stuffing cheese in me ears, listening to mp3s loud so I'll eventually dim my hearing;. But still no.
How do I shut her the hell up? Am at my wits end.
Answer: Do you get on here and say ridicules things just to get a reaction? I have read some of the answers you have given to other people and you always stand out because nothing you say is anything any normal person would say. If you are that lonely just go talk to you wife. (Not that I believe you really have one. You make me laugh often but if you really say anything like this in the real world no woman would look twice at you.)

I AM completely deaf in my leaf ear. Before I go any further, I know the jokes about politicians having selective hearing or just being unable to listen. Certainly, instead of turning a blind eye I could turn a deaf ear. I also know that I am fortunate ...
