Great sign language starter book for 6 - 16 months September 15, 2005 William White (San Mateo, CA USA) 32 out of 32 found this review helpful
Babies love to look at the actual photos of other babies. Durable 6 x 6" board book. The photos are clean and simple and have an adjoining cartoon illustration with arrows showing hand movements and a short narrative phrase explaining the movement. Signs include Mom/ Mother, Dad/ Father, please, thank you, drink, eat, done, more, banana, apple, cookie, milk, help, hurt/pain, go, stop, ball, book, cat, dog, car, airplane, toilet/potty, bath, bed/sleep, play, and I love you. It makes me want to check out the other books in this Garlic Press series.
Great Book December 26, 2009 C. Holtz (Chicago, IL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We used this book in teaching my son sign language and he was able to see the picture and mimic the signs all on his own. We used it as a guide and then realized he was teaching it to himself just as effectively as we were just in "reading" this book with him. Highly recommend this book and teaching/using sign language starting at about 9 months old. It helped with communicating during difficult baby stages. Our son had many less temper tantrums than other kids his age and we believe it was due to teaching sign language. The sign we highly recommend is teaching the "help" sign. Whenever he would get frustrated he would sign for help and he would know we would do the best to figure out what he needed.

My baby loves this September 9, 2010 Jennifer L. Cooper (Northern Italy) I started using this book with my daughter at 12 months. She was adopted from a foreign country at 10 months and didn't understand a word we said to her for many weeks. I used this book series together with Baby Signing Times DVDs for excellent results. These books are among my daughter's favorites. She brings them to me to 'read' to her all the time. She really loves to look at the pictures of the babies and I think she even understands some of the diagrams showing how to make the signs. At 18 months I have seen her sign 52 signs. It is amazing and heartwarming to experience her successfully communicating with my husband and me at only 1.5 years old. I highly recommend this series. Great product.
