The best ASL book for beginners !! July 7, 2010

This book is big (325 pages) and wide but it is a WONDERFUL introduction to ASL. I have recently decided that I want to learn ASL and this book makes it very easy to learn the basic vocabulary. The pictures and descriptions are very clear and the tips are extremely helpful.
I received the book (along with the Baron 500 flash cards and ASL phrase book, which I also ordered) 5 days after I purchased it and I am absolutely thrilled with it. My entire family is also learning ASL and I feel so happy to be learning this beautiful language and I can't wait to share it with my family members that live abroad. I recommend buying this book, the American sign language phrase book and the Baron 500 flash cards if you seriously want to learn a lot of vocabulary and the basic greetings.
A wonderful book which I recommend to everyone.

At first when I ordered this book, I was skeptical because of what people said learning from a book was like: difficult with a hard time looking at pictures to figure out what they mean. The pictures in this book are very easy to understand, although not DVD quality material, I would say this book is the next best thing!

This book is superb showing the Sign as well as describing it. I am learning as a hearing person. No matter who you are, this is a great learning tool.

We are using this book as a text book in our home school sign language class. My daughter is 15 and is having no difficulty understanding or learning the language. The pictures and descriptive text make it very friendly to use. The informative articles and history are a bonus to the learning and understanding process.
I reviewed several books on several other sites and found this one to be the best suited for our needs. As a side note we also have a family members who is loosing their hearing so this will also be useful in a perosnal way. We wound recomend this product for other families.

This is my only sign language book and I have never had any sign language classes. So this book is very helpful, both in terms of excellent photos that show signs from two different angles plus a nice text description that includes helpful ways to remember the sign. I would recommend this book. The seller was prompt and sold the book as described.
